Our Mission
THE PATH TO 10,000
The Pastors Collective is on a mission to address the real and difficult work of planting, pastoring, and leading churches by fostering soul care, curating community, developing resources, and continuing a national dialogue on mental health in ministry. We are proud to serve ministry leaders across all denominations anywhere in the world.
Our organization executes this mission by helping our pastors, their partners and Christian leaders - rest, relate and renew. We provide rest through our Retreat at Church Creek, a four-day restorative refuge curating safe space to unplug and unwind coupled with connection, solidarity and support.
Following the retreat, we invite participants to relate through our Cohort Program, monthly small group sessions promoting connection, accountability, growth and encouragement.
Whether it’s their day one or one day, we offer continuous opportunities to renew with access to affordable counseling and mentorship in partnership with The Full Strength Network and dynamic resources for education, thought leadership and inspiration.
Our goal is to help 10,000 leaders live well and finish strong in their ministry by 2027.
Our Impact
Since the Spring of 2021 The Retreat at Church Creek has served more than 1850 pastors and leaders. As a result of our retreats, pastors are leaving refreshed and encouraged. They are connecting with God and others.
In a recent survey of those who attended a retreat, over half described the experience as life changing. Below are a few figures on our impact to date, but, best believe we're just getting started...
GREG SURRATT
FOUNDER
Greg Surratt is the founding pastor of Seacoast Church, which was planted in 1988 with the goal of reaching unchurched people in the Charleston area.
Seacoast grew from meeting in a movie theater to having its own building, and from one campus to many, as the church became one of the first in the world to pioneer the multi-site approach to the weekend experience.
Today, Seacoast has a dozen campuses throughout South Carolina and in North Carolina, as well as a thriving online community. Greg continues in his role as Founding Pastor while his son, Josh, serves as the Lead Pastor of Seacoast Church.
Over the past several years, Greg has grown increasingly concerned with the mental health of pastors, with studies showing as many as 42% of them are in various stages of burnout. In 2018 Greg founded The Pastors Collective to address this growing crisis, and opened The Retreat at Church Creek in 2021 to provide a refuge for pastors to rest and make lasting connections with others.
Greg is a co-founder of the Association of Related Churches (ARC), which is a global church-planting initiative that has established over 1,000 churches worldwide since its founding in 2000.
He is the author of the books IR-REV-REND and Re-visioning, as well as his new book The Endurance Factor, and a contributor to various podcasts and magazines.
Greg is married to his childhood sweetheart, Debbie, and together they have 4 children and 14 grandchildren. He enjoys photography, fishing, golfing, and rooting for the Cubs, Broncos and Gamecocks.
